The Aloha Mission

Aloha: a Hawaiian word meaning compassion, peace and mercy. Also to signify "hello" and "goodbye."

This next year is my time to walk with aloha (quite literally - I plan on doing a lot of walking). With the motivation to shed some of the stress and go-go-go mentality that has been ubiquitous with my daily life over the last 6 years, I am beginning a physical and mental journey. There will be many lessons and laughs along the way, I am sure, and all to gain that "something." As I live through the evolutions of figuring out what that "something" is, it will be posted here. I am realistic that no journey is easy, or without strife, but the ultimate goal is to simply be, rather then wait to become.

My travels will being in Hawaii in a little over a week. It just feels right to the go back to the place that brought me so much initial peace. I see Hawaii, as many Hawaiians and lovers of Hawaii see her, as a mother. She will give to and give to you, and if you can accept her gifts, you will become a stronger and more kind person. The two and a half years I spent living in Hawaii were filled with hikes isolated in her green splendor, and days with the sound of the ocean roaring. Perfection.

After catching my breath in Hawaii, I will be filled with the aloha spirit and back across the USA and onwards over the Atlantic. My adventures will take me to Spain, Italy, Portugal, Nepal, Guatemala, Israel and more (hopefully)! I hope to meet along the way and hear from all my lovely friends and family back home that always have my back.
